Dermatology at Riverside Medical Clinic

If you're experiencing a skin condition, start by talking to your primary care physician. In the event your primary care physician is unable to treat your condition, he or she will refer you to the Dermatology department of the Riverside Medical Clinic. Once an approval has been received, you will be scheduled for an appointment to meet with one of our dermatologist's, either: Dr. Shira Young, who has been with Riverside Medical Clinic for over twelve years, or Dr. Bita Bagheri who has been in practice since 2002.

Riverside Medical Clinic's Dermatology Department has a wide array of experience dealing with many types of skin problems from skin rashes and eczema - to the different forms of skin cancer - Basal Cell Carcinomas, Squamous Cell Carcinomas, and Melanoma.

One of every three cancers diagnosed in the United States this year will be skin cancer. Fortunately, the most common types of skin cancers have a cure rate of more than 95% if they are detected and treated early. Even better, much of skin cancer can be prevented simply by protecting the skin from the sun's harmful rays (see skin tips below).

Dermatology is located in Riverside on our main campus at 7160 Brockton Avenue.

Cosmetic Dermatology and Sun Safety in Southern California

Skin flaws such as acne, wrinkles, and scarring can now be treated effectively with numerous cosmetic dermatology treatments. A cosmetic dermatologist will recommend skin care treatments to restore your skin to a more youthful, healthy appearance.

Living in sunny Southern California is also no easy manner; patients are exposed to a somewhat harsh environment on a day-to-day basis. Over exposure to the sun's rays can cause problems ranging from premature skin aging to skin cancer.

Some valuable skin tips:

  • Avoid overexposure to the sun between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Wear a hat and sun protective clothing if you're going to be exposed to prolonged sunlight.
  • Use sunscreen with a sun protection factor (or SPF) of 15 or higher.
  • Because UV rays can travel even through clouds, follow these guidelines even on overcast days.
