Ear, Nose and Throat
Have you been up all night with your child's chronic ear infection? It may be time
to ask your child's physician for a referral to the Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) physician.
Riverside Medical Clinic ENT physicians provide services to patients as young as
six months of age. Special care is taken with each patient to obtain a history of
their symptoms, along with a complete examination of the ears, nose and throat.
We recognize that along with the quality of care, patients also need the convenience
of care. With this in mind, we've established resident ENT specialists at the
Canyon Springs/Moreno Valley, the Corona, and the Main clinic locations. Dr. Rhett
Nelson sees patients at the Canyon Springs clinic, Dr. James Sun sees patients at
the Corona faciity, and Dr. Brian Boynton sees patients at the Main clinic.
Once your initial exam has been completed, the physician may request that you see
an audiologist before making a complete diagnosis. Because the audiologist is a
key factor in making an accurate diagnosis, they are located in the same office
as the ENT physician. Physicians can have the audiologist see patients and receive
the data immediately to complete a patient's examination.
Once you have been diagnosed with an illness, your treatment plan will begin immediately.
There are those rare occasions when the non-invasive treatment may not work and
the physician will have to perform surgery.
Both physicians make sure their youngest patients have surgery first thing in the
morning. This takes some of the worry from parents, who can get their child out
of bed, put them in the car, and have the surgery done before their child is hungry.
Common procedures children will encounter are:
|
Tonsillectomy
|
Tympanostomy Tubes (ear tubes)
|
Adenoidectomy
|
|
Tympanoplasty
|
Otoplasty
|
Usually our adult patients have been referred to the ENT department due to sudden
onset of an unexplained illness. In the cases where it is not sudden onset, but
rather progressive, your primary care physician will refer you to the ENT physician.
Common procedures for adult patients are:
|
Rhinoplasty
|
Endoscopic sinus surgery
|
Ear/mastoid surgery
|
Voice surgery
|
|
Facial reconstruction
|
Snoring surgery
|
Otoplasty
|
To help educate our patients and their parents, the ENT and audiologist provide
patients with pamphlets and documentation on the patient's specific illness.
Patients are also welcome to visit the medical library or visit some of the websites
