You and your physician have decided that your surgery will take place at Riverside Medical Clinic Surgery Center. We welcome you and assure you that you will receive personal attention from our highly skilled, caring professional staff. Our fully equipped operating room suites and anesthesia monitoring equipment are state-of-the-art for your safety.

The Riverside Medical Clinic Surgery Center is a multi-specialty ambulatory surgery center, licensed by the State of California, certified by Medicare and accredited by both the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care and the Institute for Medical Quality. The surgery center is designed for patients who are having elective, day-surgery with no hospital stay.

Since we specialize in one-day surgery, we can provide quality care at lower costs than at a hospital. As well, you will know the exact charge before you arrive, and it will not increase unless your doctor orders additional services for you.

The charges include:

• Use of the operating room equipment and medical supplies

• All necessary medications during your stay

• Nursing care provided before, during and after surgery

• A typed report regarding your operation sent to your physician for your medical records

At Riverside Medical Clinic Surgery Center (map, directions), our staff is prepared to see that your surgery experience is as easy as we can make it.

Riverside Medical Clinic is licensed to perform a variety of surgical procedures including: General Surgery, Ear, Nose and Throat, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Urology, Plastic, Podiatry, Gynecology and Endoscopy.

Our highly qualified surgeons and staff help ensure your satisfaction. Practicing physicians go through a credentialing process conducted by their peers. Guided by written, binding procedures, physician's peers – other physicians – review patient's medical charts to evaluate the level of health care provided. They also review physician's education and training. If the level of patient care is deemed to be satisfactory, the physician is granted continuing privileges to practice in his or her specialty.

Preparing for your surgery

Let’s walk through the process of what you can expect and the instructions you need to follow prior to surgery.

You will be called by your surgeon a day or two before your surgery and given the time to arrive at the surgery center. It is important that you be on time as other surgery procedures may follow yours. In addition, you will be asked to call the surgery center the day before surgery. This is your opportunity to speak with a registered nurse to ask questions and confirm your preoperative instructions.

Be sure to notify your physician of any change in your physical condition that may indicate a respiratory infection (cough, runny nose, fever) or other illness. This may require postponement of surgery.

Instructions:

• Have a light dinner the evening before surgery.

• Do not eat or drink anything, including water, after midnight prior to your procedure. This includes coffee, lifesavers, chewing gum, or Certs®. However, if your surgery is after 1:00 p.m., you may have one glass of clear liquid before 7:00 a.m. Clear liquids consist of water, 7•Up®, ginger ale or apple juice only. Infants under 3 years of age may have four ounces clear liquid, four hours before surgery. YOUR SAFETY DEPENDS ON THIS. You may brush your teeth or rinse your mouth, but you must not swallow anything.

• Take blood pressure and heart pills with a small sip of water when due. Before taking any other kind of medication prior to surgery, consult your physician.

• Wear comfortable clothing and leave all valuables at home. Regular contact lenses and glasses can not be worn in the operating room. Be sure to bring your container to keep these protected while you are in surgery.

• Please do not bring children with you and limit adult visitors to two only.

• Bring your insurance card and/or forms so our business office can bill your insurance company.

• You will sign a consent form at the time of admission. If the patient is a minor, a parent or legal guardian must sign the form and must stay at the facility until the patient is discharged.

• On discharge, you will be required to have a responsible licensed driver take you home. No patient will be permitted to leave alone following any procedure.

• Plan to have someone care for you at home at least the day of the surgery.

• Make a follow-up appointment when you get home.

• If you have any questions, please call your physician or us.

Arrive at the surgery center at the required time. When you arrive for your surgery, request assistance at the reception window in the main lobby. Then relax and allow us to take care of you.

If you are unable to keep your appointment or you are delayed, please contact the Surgery Center at   951-782-3801.
