ABOUT THE EVENT
Named for one of the 19 founding physicians of the Foundation, the Dr. Herman H. Stone Memorial Dedication Fundraiser is held each summer. Over the years, lecture topics have covered numerous health issues such as Diabetes, Managing Sleep, and Dementia.
This year, we are excited to be conducting a 4-part webinar series on Autism during the entire month of June. Each Tuesday night at 6:00 pm, we will hold a different webinar featuring an expert in this field. You will need to sign up for each week separately through our website and space is limited. Our Webinars are free to attend and will be taped.
DR. STONE’S BIOGRAPHY
Herman Hull Stone was born on an Illinois farm in 1915. He graduated from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in 1941. Upon graduation, he was commissioned into the Army Medical Corps Reserve.
After serving in the Air Force, Dr. Stone joined the Riverside Medical Clinic in 1950. He became the 14th physician of record in a group practice that grew significantly over the years. He served as chairman of Riverside Medical Clinic and president of the Riverside County Medical Association. He also served two terms as Trustee of California Blue Shield, 25 years as a delegate to the California Medical Association, and 12 years in the House of Delegates of the American Medical Association.
Before retiring in January 1991, Dr. Stone had practiced medicine in Riverside for 41 years. Near the end of his career, he had a dream of opening a medical library where Riverside Medical Clinic patients and the community-at-large could go to find answers about their own health and medical questions. In 1992, the Patients’ Information Library, later re-named the Dr. Herman H. Stone Medical Library, was open to the public, with Dr. Stone serving as the Library’s Director. Until late 2004, Dr. Stone volunteered in the Medical Library on a regular bi-weekly basis.
Dr. Stone was married to his wife, Marie, for 65 years. They had two children, Richard and Patricia, and four grandchildren at the time of his passing in April 2006.
