Festival of Lights

January 1, 2019 – January 5, 2019

The 26th Annual Festival of Lights features Attraction rides – Timeless Train, the Century Wheel, Colorful Vintage Carousel and additional returning Favorites – Magical Moments with Santa Claus, Horse-Drawn Carriages, Seasonal Music and Entertainment, the Artisans Collective and tasty food vendors.

2019 Citrus Heritage Run

January 5, 2019

The 10th annual Citrus Heritage Run will include a half marathon, 10k, 5K and 1 mile kids fun run on Saturday, January 5, 2019. This unique course winds through the historic orange groves of Riverside’s Greenbelt, along Victoria Avenue and through California Citrus Historic State Park.

Gardening Workshop

January 12, 2019

“Caring for Trees in Drought Conditions” presented by Pam Pavela, horticulturalist and certified arborist. Like water, trees are a precious resource. Trees can suffer and decline if they are in landscapes where watering is decreased due to shortage or drought. Pam will share tips on how to best care for your trees during drought conditions.

Rose Pruning Demonstration

January 13, 2019

Every January the public is invited to the UCR Botanic Gardens to attend the annual Rose Pruning Demonstration, which takes place in one of the Rose Gardens. Botanic Gardens staff, volunteers and local experts demonstrate how to prune hybrid tea, floribunda, miniature roses and climbers, and are eager to answer questions and teach guests how to prune roses. This free public service event has been ongoing at the UCR Botanic Gardens since 1979 and is always well attended. The demonstration is free, although donations are always gratefully accepted. Come out and learn how to take care of your roses, and you may even win a raffle prize.

26th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Walk

January 21, 2019

Join us on January 21st as we pay tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.! This year our theme is ‘Walking for Peace and Justice’. Our 5K walk will start at Stratton Center and end at the RCC Digital Library with a stop at the Martin Luther King Jr. statue on Main Street.
