Survey Season is Upon Us!

It’s that time of year when we begin to gather important feedback from our patients on your experience with Riverside Medical Clinic and how we can work to serve you better. We believe you deserve the best care, attention and service, and the CAHPS Survey captures those results to keep us continually striving for excellence.

WHAT IS THE CAHPS SURVEY?

CAHPS, otherwise known as the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems Survey, is a questionnaire that asks consumers and patients to share their experiences with healthcare services in various settings. The CAHPS Survey is considered the national standard for measuring and reporting information on patients’ experiences with their chosen health plans, hospitals and providers alike.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO RIVERSIDE MEDICAL CLINIC?

The results from the CAHPS Survey help us to highlight our strengths as a clinic, as well as identify areas of improvement for our patients. It’s our own personalized report card that serves as a great tool to track our progress and to ensure we adhere to the utmost quality assurance. These scores directly translate to a better understanding of our patient’s needs, which are then reflected in the treatment plans and advice offered during your doctor visit.

HOW & WHEN IS THE SURVEY ADMINISTERED?

The CAHPS Survey is administered during the spring months between February and May, and is overseen by the Agency for Healthcare and Research Quality (AHRQ). An array of methods can be used to conduct the survey in order to accommodate the needs of our patients. It can be done in person, over the phone or on the web. Both adults and children can participate, and for children aged 17 or younger, his or her parents can complete the survey on their behalf. Generally, the survey is for any patient who has visited RMC, whether scheduled or unscheduled, within the last six months.

WHAT TYPE OF QUESTIONS WILL BE ASKED?

AHRQ determines the core questions of the survey each year, and they typically include questions such as:

-When you needed care right away, how often did you get care as soon as you needed it?

-How often did you get an appointment for a check-up or routine care as soon as you needed it?

-How often was it easy to get the care, tests, or treatment you needed?

-How often did you get an appointment to see a specialist as soon as you needed to?

-How often did your personal doctor seem informed and up-to-date about the care you got from other doctors or other health providers?

-How would you rate your personal doctor?

-How would you rate the specialist you see most often?

-How would you rate all your health care in the last 6 months?
